What is important when buying Lashing Straps?

There are two types of straps, the one-piece and the two-piece lashing strap. The one-piece strap is also called a luggage belt or endless. It is a piece of strap fabric with a ratchet or tension buckle. This variety is used to strap or clamp the load. A tension buckle sits on a tension strap without a ratchet and clamps the strap in place.

The two-piece strap consists of two separate straps. A tension strap with a ratchet part and a tension part. On the ratchet part there is, as the word says, a ratchet or tensioning buckle and on the tensioning part there is a hook or other fittings.

Furthermore, you can also choose between two types of ratchets; the so-called push and pull ratchets. The push ratchet uses the ratchet with an upward motion, hence push. The pull ratchet uses the downward force, hence pull down. Generally, the pull ratchet is the easiest to use.

Width Strength

The width strength is very important to keep in mind when buying. The main thing to look for is whether the LC force (the width force) is adequate for the lashing job. LC stands for lashing capacity and is the lashing capacity of a single strap tension. LC reversed stands for a double tension, this often concerns a strapping. In addition, one also speaks of an STF, this stands for the downward force on the load. The height of the LC and STF value gives a good estimate of the strength of a strap.
