Hole Saws for various materials

To drill holes larger than an ordinary drill bit, there is the hole saw. It is actually a combination of a drill and a round saw blade. It is often used for installing flush-mounting boxes in plaster walls, countersinking hinges or other applications that require a round hole in sheet metal. This method is often faster than using a multi-tool or jigsaw. Most hole saws start at 19 or 20 millimetres in diameter. By means of the centre drill, you can easily find the centre of the hole to be drilled. The tooth pitch of the hole saw does the rest of the work. The manufacturers use innovative materials and techniques, as a result of which the drills stay sharp for longer and leave less material lying around during the sawing process. So you can work more comfortably and longer with the same saw.

Suitable for different materials

Most hole saws are suitable for different materials such as wood, plasterboard or gypsum blocks, OSB, underlayment and so on. Some are also suitable for plastic, metal, laminate, PVC, acrylic glass and even stainless steel. The heaviest ones drill through granite, marble and ceramic materials, for example to make a tap hole in a kitchen worktop.

Saw Sets in various diameters

Besides separate hole saws, there are also sets available that include the most common diameters, together with accessories such as cases, centre drills, spacers and adapters for mounting on various drill heads. The diameters of the saws in most sets run from about 19 millimetres to 76 millimetres. Apart from the diameters, the heights also differ. So make sure you have the right height for the thickness of the sheet material.
