The 18 volt LXT battery BL1850B from Makita is equipped with a handy sliding system and an LED indicator. 
The LED indicator shows the status of the battery and filling. 

When 4 LEDs are lit, the battery still has a capacity = 75-100% 
When 3 LEDs are lit, the battery still has a capacity = 50-75% 
When 2 LEDs are lit, the battery still has a capacity = 25-50% 
When 1 LED is lit, the battery still has a capacity = 0-25% 

When the last LED starts flashing, the battery needs to be charged again. 
If any of the four LEDs flash alternately every two, there may be a fault in the battery.
